Food was really good!!! The chili crisp rice wasn't worth it. Vindaloo was amazing. We ordered spicy 8/10 and it was really flavorful.

my favorite indian food spot in the city- please get the street dosa for an app and thank me later! the butter chicken here is always amazing, naan is always tasty, i have nothing but good things to say about this place!

Great Indian restaurant if you're in the area. You should definitely check it out. I was very surprised. They redone the entire interior and the ambience is fantastic.

The usual family spot: Friendly, Neat, Great Food Now has a BUFFET...super excited Staff are the best

Everything was delicious! They had several unique menu items. Tamarind short ribs, shrimp Kadai, and pepper naan. All excellent! Will be back soon.

Bay Leaf is probably my favorite Indian spot in Birmingham. They have a really good mix of fun, modern dishes, as well as your standard curries and rice dishes. Their appetizers are so fun and their presentation on all their food is impeccable. The experience is so fun and the food is just as delicious and the service is always great! I highly recommend going for their lunch special! Our favorite app is the street dosa!

We visited Bay Leaf with a big group, and everything came out fast. The Chicken Tikki Masala and Chicken Kadhai were both excellent. The service was great and very attentive, and the ambiance was nice and clean. A fantastic experience overall!

Overall 4.25 Stars- Stopped in 5 Points area which is located downtown Birmingham for some Indian food. Arrived at 5 for an early dinner and we weren't hungry after the meal. Of course, we had to try several different dishes to "curb" our very loud stomach which was saying, "Feed me Maurice"! The place is modern with ample and open seating and tables. Can get loud when busy because the area is one big open space. Long benches on one side, several two or four tables and one large round table for about eight people. 4.5 Stars - Our server was pleasant, helpful and professional. He asked us if we had any ALLERGIES. NOTE: Most Indian food will use Peanuts as a Base Ingredient. He recommended several different dishes and mentioned they have a $44 and $36 combo meal (one appetizer or street food, one main dish, one order of bread (naan, roti, etc) and one dessert if you order the $44 combo. NOTE: Make sure to specify your "spicy level" when ordering. " as they say, "Some like it hot when the heat is on"... 4.25 Stars - Food - so we ordered the following: 1. $36 Combo meal which consists of: - Appetizer - TAMARIND GLAZED BEEF SHORT RIBS, gluten free, peanut free $14 4.5 Stars - Dish is plated with two Short Ribs and they were tendered and very flavorful. The Tamarind sauce was wonderfully balanced with tangy sourness and sweetness flavor- DEFINITELY will order this again! - Main Dish - Chicken TIKKA MASALA The Indian favorite curry. Rich and creamy tomato-based sauce with selected earthy spices gluten free, peanut free. $18. NOTE: There are other proteins you can asked for from the menu. 4 Stars. Got it medium spicy and the flavor was wonderful. A lot of tomato- base sauce for your rice to be covered in. Dish comes with Basmati rice. - Bread - Garlic Naan $6. 3 Stars - slightly disappointed with the Naan. Needed more garlic on it. Order is One Naan bread cut in quarters 2. TANDOORI CHICKEN The classic Indian grilled cornish hen. A clay oven favorite! gluten free, peanut free. $22 3.5 Stars - the chicken lacked some flavors from the various spices. There are four pieces that came with it and iOS served with buttered Naan. The chicken was slightly charred from the clay oven - which is the proper way but it just lacked flavor. Maybe it will be better tomorrow. 3. BUTTER CHICKEN The most popular Punjabi curry. Full of awesomeness. gluten free. $20. Serves with Basmati rice. - 3.75 Stars. The Peanut based curry sauce had a wonderful balance of seasoning and creaminess. However the chicken were thinly sliced instead of being in "chunky" format. It had more sauce than chicken. 4. Vegetable LUCKNOWI DUM BIRIYANI. Princely biriyani cooked the royal Awadhi style. - 4 .25 Stars. The BIRIYANI rice was very flavorful and can be intense because it is covered with a layer of bread which is then cooked in the clay oven. The seasoning and citrus based is trapped into rice when cooking because of the layered bread topping. It was wonderful but highly suggests to have it with the Yoghurt based sauce which comes with it to reduce the intense flavor. 5. Street Food: SAMOSA DUO A timeless Indian snack with savory filling made of potatoes, onions, and peas. dairy free, vegan. $8 3.75 Stars - dish is served with Two Samosa. They were ok and are kinda' small for my liking. Perfectly fried and served w a Mint Sauce. 6. Street Food: BOMBAY ONION FRITTERS. dairy free, peanut free. $8 3.75 Stars. Battered onions with curry seasoning and slight fried. Served with Mint and Tamarind sauces. To me they were 3.75 Stars. My wife and friend gave it 4 - 4.25 Stars. 7. Tandoori Jhinga. Eight Gulf Shrimps marinated in different spices and slowly cooked in the clay oven.$16 - 4.5 Stars - Perfectly cooked with a side of lemon and sauce. Has a bit of "heat". 8. Jalapeño Tamarind Margarita.$12 - 4 Stars - not too spicy. Balance well with the Tamarind flavor but it is an acquired taste for the sourness. 9. Karari Bhindi $9. Thinly sliced fried okra. 3.5 Stars. Lightly fired but the spices were lacking. Ratings- The Short Ribs and the Shrimp were the favorite. Can't go wrong with eight one of them.

Bayleaf is one of my fav Indian restaurants in town. I visited for Christmas Eve dinner and enjoyed their pre set menu amongst other diners and their loved ones. The place is located on the Southside, so you may have to do a bit of hunting for a parking spot if going in the evening. Once inside you're greeted by friendly staff, a lively atmosphere, and plenty of good food. The Christmas Eve special came with an appetizer, entree, dessert, and cocktail. I barely made it through everything and took a few things home for later. Dipping their garlic naan in various sauces is my fav thing to do; so many flavors to enjoy! They're also open for lunch, but I typically go for happy hour or dinner. It's a lovely spot to try something new.

This is a fun Indian restaurant in downtown Birmingham. The vibe is modern and it has just the right amount of Indian touches in the decor. I was very impressed with the cocktail menu that had beautiful fusion of nostalgic Indian drinks. We tried paan old fashioned which was nicely done, just a little sweeter than expected. For appetizers we tried Chennai chicken 65, tamarind short ribs, Indian sloppy joe and chutney flight. Chicken and short ribs were exceptional! Chutney flight was a disappointment... 2 chutneys with 3 rolled papads, very basic, I would skip that. Sloppy joes is basically pav bhaji, that was ok. For main course we had chicken tikka masala, malai kofta and dal makhni. Everything tasted fresh and delicious.. just a tad heavy on cardamom. Service was very good. I love the yelp check in offer of 20% off.
